Festive fun run round ‘The Carnethy Training Course’

Date for your diaries: Tuesday 28thDecember 2021.

Location: Sedbergh, Start/finish is located on the fell path 100 yards past Lockbank Farm.
Distance: 5.25 miles approx.   Ascent: 2500ft approx


ALL COMPETITORS MUST carry sufficient kit.
In the case of poor/bad weather the fun run will be rescheduled. 

Suggested start times:
Below are suggested start times, but it is up to the individualto decide what time they would like to start.

Green group– 10.00 am
Blue group– 10.20 am
Red group– 10.40am
Black group– 11.00am
The objective of this run is that everybody can run competitively within their ability, without having the pressure of being on a start line.
All competitors MUSTsign in at the start.
All competitors should record their own times.
All competitors MUST report back and sign in at the finish, even if you have retired. 

There will be a box to record times, should competitors want to submit their run time.
Competitors can opt to submit their time if they would like, but they do not have to. 
There will be no prizes and no entry fee. Your prize will be your own satisfaction of getting round the legendary Carnethy training course,
Route description:
From start, follow the path along the fell wall for about 1km. Cross the beck and follow the path up to Crook cairn.
Turn left off Crook cairn and take direct path to Arant Haw summit.
Turn left off Arant Haw summit and follow the path down two short descents, look out for the quad track on the right hand side to take in small cairn at checkpoint 3.
Head back towards main path along sheep trod.
Take the long descent down to the sheep pens and cross the beck.
Follow track beside wall until you reach the gate on the bridleway.
Ascend Winder via the main track, taking in hilly billy small top part way up. Then carry on main track to Winder summit.
Descend down, taking the quickest route to Lockbank farm fell gate.
Turn sharp left and put in a 100 yard sprint for the finish beside the fell wall.
NOTE: The course WILL BE flagged so please FOLLOW THE FLAGS and make sure you put in all the corners (NO SHORTCUTS!)
